There's no snow where I'm going

I leave for a semester in China tomorrow evening. My initial (20 hour) trip will take me from New Orleans to LA to South Korea and finally to Hong Kong. Hong Kong, while officially part of China, has its own government, currency, and is one of the world's freest and most vibrant economies. I'll be there until Wednesday.

It's supposed to rain while I'm there, so don't expect too many pictures like this.

After a few days in Hong Kong I'll be off to Kunming for the semester. Kunming is the provincial capital of Yunnan province and is close to China's borders with several southeast Asian countries. Its between the foothills of the Himalayas and rain forests in the South, leaving it with year-round spring weather.

I'll be taking 16 hours in Kunming through Middlebury College in Vermont and Yunnan University.

Kunming is also home to several dozen of China's ethnic minorities and a wide range of natural landscapes. I'll be there until mid-June, but until then, you can follow my travels here.
